DEATH OF WYCOMBE'S " OLDEST INHABITANT.'. We regret to have to record the death, which took place at High Wycombe on Wednesday [2nd March?], of Mr. Thomas Mealing, who, having lived to the patriarchal age of 97. was the town's oldest inhabitant. Mr. Mealing, who lived at 30. Easton- street, was a representative of a much-respected family which has for generations followed the town's staple industry. He married twice and survived both his wives. He had two sons, one of whom, Mr. Freeman Mealing, predeceased him by a quarter of a century, and the other survives in the person of Mr. Edwin Mealing. The late Mr. Mealing had several daughters, one of whom was married to the late Alderman Phillips, the Mayor who welcomed Queen Victoria to Wycombe in 1877. The deceased gentleman leaves a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. His brother, Mr. William Mealing. died in September, 1901, at the age of 90.
