Hastings Divorce Petition In the Divorce Court on Friday last week, Mr. Justice Barnard had before him the petition of Mrs. Ivy. Doris Bateman, St. Helen's-road, Hastings, for
decree nisi against her husband. Edward Sutherland Bateman on the ground of his adultery at the May Fair Hotel, London, and at another hotel in 1943.
The marriage was in January. 1928, at the Register Office, Croydon. They lived at Claremont. Hastings. The marriage was happy for a time. In 1933 they separated by agreement. There was a reconciliation in 1935 and a child was born the following year. Then the marriage continued satisfactorily till her husband joined the R.A.F. In 1940. Petitioner's case was that from that time her husband's manner changed,
After hearing evidence in support of the charges, his lordship granted a decree nisi with custody of the child and costs.
