MARGATE MAN FINED.
For cruelty to a cat, Peter Twyman, of Byron-road, Hargate, was fined 13s. at the Borough Police Court on Wednesday.
Mrs. Florence Wainwright, of 20, Byronroad, said that about 1 o'clock on June 13th she was hanging up clothes in the back yard, when she saw the defendant throw a large stone at the cat. The cat was struck on the leg, and afterwards | lay down under a tree as it could not walk.
The cat, added the witness, had been mewing all the morning and she supposed the noise got on defendant's nerves.
Mrs. Pulman, the owner of the animal, said that next morning it had to be destroyed.
Inspector Miller, of the R.S.P.C.A., said defendant told him he did not throw a stone at a cat.
Defendant said that nearly everybody in the neighbourhood had threatened to kill the cat as it was such a pest, but he denied throwing the stone at the animal.
