        Ron died aged 88 on 18 October 1998, in Wycombe Hospital, just two weeks short of his 89th birthday, and was cremated on 28 October at the Chilterns Crematorium. Officiating at the funeral the Rev. Gregory Hargrove praised Ron as a 'quiet, gentle, gentleman who was methodical in everything he did'.

        His obituary appeared in the Bucks Free Press (BFP) on 30 October, whose editor for much of the time he worked for the newspaper, Arthur Church, said:

        PREPARATIONS are under way for an exhibition at Wycombe Museum of the works of the late photographer Ronald Goodearl.

        An overwhelming response to two previous exhibitions of Mr Goodearl's work, prompted organisers to stage another one this time focusing on villages and parishes around the district.
        Mr Goodearl is renowned for his vast collection of photographs taken during his fruitful career as a freelance spanning more than 50 years.
        The exhibition is from February 2 until March 16, at the museum in Priory Avenue between 10am and 5pm Monday to Saturday and 2pm and 5pm on Sunday.
