FUNERAL OF MRS. GIBBONS.
The funeral of Mrs. Gibbons took place very quietly in Wycombe Cemetery on Wednesday [17th] morning. To avoid a display of public feeling, the coffin containing the remains of the deceased was removed from the residence in Oxford Road as early as half- past six in the morning and placed in Wesley Church, Priory Road. At that hour very few persons were about, but it was afterwards known to many of the general public that the funeral service would be at 11 o'clock. Consequently there was a large gathering of spectators in the vicinity of the chapel. The service was only attended by the immediate male representatives and a few others. Mr. A. J. Clarke and Mr. Henry Goodearl were also present. The service in the chapel and at the graveside was very simply, but impressively, conducted by the Rev. E. Mosscrop (superintendent of the Circuit). At the Cemetery there was a large attendance, but the greatest order prevailed, thanks to the excellence of the police arrangements under Chief Constable Sparling The coffin (laden with beautiful floral tributes) was of polished oak, with brass fittings, and the inscription on the breastplate was as follows:-" Sarah Ann Gibbons, died June 13th,1909, aged 38 years.
" Floral tributes were sent "From her loving and sorrowing father and mother." "To dear mother, from her loving children, Keith, Marie, Kenneth, Douglas, Maggie, and Maurice," "From her sorrowing brothers and sisters," "From Bert and Beattie," "From her two sisters-in-law and Charlie," "From cousin Rem.," "From Dr. and Mrs. Bannerman," "From J. Austin and family," "From Mr. C. H. and Mrs. Hunt, Mr. J. H. and Miss Hunt," ""From Marie's friend, Hilda Rutty," "From Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Eggleton, The Cottage, Chinnor," "From Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gardner, Jack and Reg.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. C. H. Hunt and Son
