Pte. PAY a prisoner
Yet another Ramsgate man serving in The Buffs is reported to be a prisoner of war Italy.
He is Pte. Ernest PAY, son of Mr and Mrs Charles PAY of 2 herbert Cottages, Hereson Road, Ramsgate.
Twenty-three years of age, Pte. PAY is an old boy of Hereson School and was employed by Page's Dairy Ltd.

On Monday his parents received offical information that their son was a prisoner.
Pte. PAY's brother, Mr William Charles PAY, is serving as a cook in the Royal Navy.

News was received last week by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pay, of No. 2, Herbert- cottages, Hereson-road, Ramsgate, that their son, Pte. Ernest Frederick Pay, who was reported missing on December 15th last during the big battle of the Buffs in Libya, is now a prisoner of war in Italy.
Pte. Pay joined the Buffs in October, 1939, and went to Palestine in 1940. From there he was sent to Egypt and from Egypt to Libya. He was serving as an officer's batman when he was reported missing.
