Gunner Albert Fleet, son of Mr and Mrs H. Fleet, Leabrooks, near Alfreton, writes that he has visited the grave of his brother, Corporal Fleet, Sherwood Foresters, who was killed in action on September 13th. Corporal Fleet had followed the profession of arms for a number of years, and was one of the original "contemptible little Army." He took part in a number of important engagements and was wounded in one of them. He was also recommended: for the D.C.M. for conspicuous work. After leaving hospital he returned to the Front, where he and his brother Albert met and were stationed close together for a few weeks.

UNPROVOKED ASSAULT.
LEABROOKS MAN FINED.
At Alfreton Police Court on Wednesday, Walter Fleet charged Albert Fleet, Leabrooks, with an assault on June 1st. Mr. Scott prosecuted, and said it was an entirely unprovoked assault.
Fleet, who formerly lived next door to the defendant, said there was a common yard to five houses. On May 25th, having been to a concert at the local Welfare Hall, he came home and was getting dinner when the defendant said something to him about a puppy, which he said had been at his chickens. The defendant came round to him and struck him. On June 1st after some difference over money, the defendant again struck him and knocked him down.
The defendant, who pleaded guilty, excused his conduct by saving his mother came down and said that Walter had struck her and caused a black mark on her arm. That was why he struck him.
The penalty was £1 15s.
