CHILD'S NARROW ESCAPE FROM DROWNING. - On Monday_evening a little girl named Marjorie Perrin aged 2 ½ years was playing in a garden in St. John's-road, which slopes down to the river Crane into which she slipped, and she was carried along by the current at a rapid rate and was in imminent danger of being drowned. A man who was fishing from the bank on a waste piece of ground near by promptly jumped in the water and rescued her. She was conveyed home and medically treated by Dr. Cummins, who found that she was in a state of collapse, but no serious results are expected. We understand that the man who rescued the child has been instrumental in saving many persons from drowning, but owing to a natural modesty upon his part, he does not wish to unveil his identity.
