An inquest was held at Chinnor, on Monday, the 7th inst., before Henry Dixon, Esq., on the body of Samuel Quainton, who received a kick from a horse, the property of Mr. Joseph North, of Emmington, on the Saturday previous. The evidence went to show that the deceased was returning from taking the halter from off the horse, when the animal from some unexplained cause suddenly kicked out, striking the de- ceased on the right side, fracturing the sixth and seventh ribs, and causing internal injuries, which resulted in the death of the poor fellow within a quarter of an hour. The jury made strict inquiry as to the truth of a report circulated in the neighbourhood that the horse was known to be a vicious animal, but the evidence disproved the statement. The enquiry resulted in a verdict of "Accidental death." We desire to call the attention of the benevolent in the neighbourhood to this melancholy death, as the deceased has left behind a widow and five children, and an addition to the number is daily expected. At the conclusion of the inquisition a suggestion was made by one of the jurors that a collection should be made in behalf of the widow, which was readily responded to, and about £1 was sent her.
