DEATH OF MR. JOHN COCKS. - On Friday, the inhabitants were startled by the sudden death of one of its prominent residents, Mr. John Cocks. Arising in his usual health, after partaking of breakfast, he uttered a cry and fell, death taking place immediately. Following on in an old-established business, he spent the whole of his life-with the exception of a brief apprenticeship in London-in the village, in which he was born in the year 1830. He became early member of the Congregational Church, and for nine years had been superintendent of the Sunday school connected therewith. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon. In the evening the Rev. H. Munton preached a funeral sermon from the words, "Be ye also ready."
