WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION ACT.
Mr. Woodward (Messrs. R. 8. Wood and Co.) made an application to his Honour, on behalf of Mrs. Caroline Britnell, widow of Kias Britnell, of Kingston Blount, who met with an accident on Dec. 6th, 1916, whilst in the employ of Mr. E. J. Clarke, of Town Farm, Kingston Blount, and who died on March 10. 1917, to deal with funds in court. The amount of £140 1s. had been paid into court by the employer as compensation, and the application was for £50 forthwith, 15s. per week, and payment of costs. Mr. Woodward stated that the widow was 70 years of age, and had had to bear the expense of the illness, and there would be the doctor's bill and the cost of living for the last thirteen weeks.
His Honour made an order for £25 forthwith, and the balance of £9 per quarter, and £5 5s solicitor's experses.
