        DEATH OF MR. JOHN WIXON
The death occurred at the Smithy, Wendover Dean, on Christmas Eve, of Mr. John Thomas Wixon, aged 71. Mr. Wixon, had lived at the Smithy since 1904 and had dur- ing those years pursued the trade of blacksmith and agricultural engineer, succeeding the late Mr. Thomas Dancer. Mr. Wixon was born in London but early in life came to live at Bledlow and after starting work at the age of 10 at Shemmalls Farm, was apprenticed to a Mr. John Brown, at The Forge, Great Hampden, which is still run by a Mr. Brown. He then worked for the late Mr. Caudery at The Foundry, Wendover, and helped to make the steel fencing which now encloses the Bacombe Estate. He was then employed by Mr. Dancer at The Smithy and later purchased the business and continued on his own account. He sustained a serious accident at The Lee in 1908 and for some months was in a critical con- dition. He recovered, however, and was able to continue his work until 1936 when failing health prevented him working. His son, Mr. John Wixon, restarted the business in 1946 and still carries it on. Mr. Wixon is survived by four sons and five daughters, one of whom is in New Zealand.
The funeral took place at Wendover Churchyard on Thursday of last week, the service being con- ducted by the Vicar, the Rev. J. F. Pratt, with the organist, Mr. Wilfred Clark, Those present included Messrs. John, Thomas, Hubert and Edward Wixon, sons: Miss Verna Wixon, Mrs. John Poulton, Mrs. E.
