A MISTAKE SOMEWHERE.-A letter was read from the Rev. E. J. Howman, rector of Chinnor, informing the Board that on Tuesday last, August 21st, Dr. Lee left an order for one half-pint of port wine for James Stratford with his parents, with directions to present it to the relieving officer on the following day at Chinnor ; that they did so, and that the relieving officer told them that he could not let them have the wine till he had received permission from the Board on Monday next, after which they must send up to his house at Stokenchurch for it. Mr. Howman begged to ask whether the relieving officer was acting under standing orders of the Board, and whether in their opinion he was justified in not immediately giving effect to the medical officer's order in a case of sickness. -Relieving-officer Painter said he had seen no order for wine, and several members then remarked that there was an end of the matter. - Mr. Olliff moved, Mr. Croxford seconded, and it was resolved that the Clerk acknowledge the letter in terms embodied in Mr. Painter's statement.
