        Reading Mercury 07 March 1863
On the same day, the coroner made enquiries into the death of Elizabeth Green, of Chinnor, aged 89, who was found burnt to death in her cottage the previous afternoon. Deceased appeared to have been a woman of eccentric habits, and was averse to anyone living with her; but a woman residing next door was paid to act as an at- tendant on her. From the statement of this woman, as also that of the Independent minister, Mr. Green, who lived next door, the coroner was satisfied no good purpose would be served by holding an inquest, which was therefore dispensed with.
